In the Boydell Edition, the glass above the woman's head is full. The tops of her fingers are lit by the light coming through the window.

In the B, C & J Edition it's not clear if the glass above the woman's head is empty or full. The shading on her hat and ribbon have been reworked and the tops of her fingers have been shaded.

In the Boydell edition, the top of the patient's arm is lit by light coming through the window. The shading on the physician's coat is rendered with diagonal lines that go from left to right in a way that emphasizes the posture of the physician as he leans over his patient.

In the 1822 edition, the top of the patient's arm has been shaded and the bottom of the window is almost obscured. The shading on the physician's coat has been rendered in the opposite direction.

In the Boydell edition, the stripes on this figure's sleeve have almost worn away.

In the 1822 edition, Heath has redrawn the stripes as they appeared in Hogarth's early printings.
